AARP followed Nalls Aviation around most of this year (mostly out a sense of curiosity) with the intention of telling the story of Nalls Aviation. Exactly, how DOES one acquire a Harrier and fly it on the airshow circuit? Inquiring minds want to know….
“Badass Pilot: The Series” is a non-scripted series now published on the AARP You Tube channel. Season 1 will follow Nalls Aviation as they prepare for the 2017 airshow season by working on the airplanes and getting the pilots up to speed, but also feature archived video of all the work that went into acquiring, shipping, assembling, and finally flying a piece of aviation history. Each of the main characters of Team SHAR (for Sea Harrier) will be introduced and give their individual take on how they achieved the seemingly impossible – – to fly a civilian jump jet!
Often touted as one of the most difficult airplanes to fly, Nalls Aviation just completed their 10th, successful airshow season. See video of the ‘crash’ landing on the second flight, and all the logistic nightmares that go into getting the entire team and airplanes to an airshow.
